This semla won best semla in Stockholm for 2022 according to Krogguiden - and to be fair, I'm not going to disagree! I couldn't fault it!

What a wonderful bun. Taste, consistency, and appearence - Inside, it's slightly darker in colour than a semla bun often is, which I was told, is because of the organic flour they use.

The almond paste is filled with quite finely chopped roasted almonds and some crushed cardamom seeds - added to the cardamom flavour in the bread.

The cream is softly whipped - just enough to hold its shape, but not enough to pipe into pattens. It sits like a cap on the bun, like a cream bean bag! ha. Not sure that analogy works. But anyhow, the taste of cream was excellent. Proper creamy. It amazes me how some semlors manage to have cream that tastes, well, of almost nothing. This one definitely can't be accused of that!

On top of the cream was a sprinkling of coarsely chopped roasted salted almonds. Not an excessive amount, but the taste and crunch of salted nuts, was the final piece of a fantastic taste combination. To top things off, it had a proud looking, icing flour dusted, triangular lid.
