"Breakfast roll bread"

You can probably guess from the picture that I'm going to complain about the bread. "frukostfralla" was my first reaction (breakfast roll). Little too mean perhaps, but it had a very airy consistency and a little dry, especially at the base. Perhaps it was a little old? Some buns left over from Tuesday? The almond paste was nothing special. There were no discernible bits of almond and It looked and tasted like wholesale almond paste to me. The cream was nice though!
The whole semla was clearly constructed with care and an attention to detail - good proportions, almond paste on the first bite, triangular lid, and a dusting of icing sugar. But as carefully constructed as it was, it doesn't hide the fact the component pieces are quite average. So at the end of the day, this semla really didn't stand out from the crowd. 43kr.
