"Soft like a pillow."
2022 season review
19th February 2022
It's been a couple of seasons since I had their regular semla. The bun is very light in colour, very soft, almost too soft. It struggled towards the end to hold together. But it was a great density and nicely speckled with cardamom.
The paste was, like the bun, quite light in colour. A sign they use non-roasted nuts and a white sugar. The taste confirms the lack of roasted nuts - but they do add some more cardamom to the paste as well as some chopped nuts.
The cream was good, I'd left the semla in the box just a little too long so it had started to "cry" a little (cream that cries, oh my, we really are deep into semla review geekdom now).
A triangular lid tops it all off. It's a good, tasty semla - but it's starting to fall into the "good traditional" bracket. at 51kr it's also joint top of the price range so far this season.
