Bröd & Salt

It looks glorious doesn't it? This was bought from Bröd och Salt in Hammarby Sjöstad. It's what I call the perfect size; "lagom" if you will - or a "goldilocks semla". It's not too big and not too small... it's just right. The lid was cut round. I'm taking quite a fondness to round-cut lids. The cream was nicely piped in a swirl and again, the "goldilocks" amount. They've sprinkled coarsely chopped roasted almonds over the almond paste. This not only gives it a real visual boost, it also really adds to the flavour. The almond paste itself is otherwise quite standard, apart from what I think is the addition of rose water. The bun was a little on the dry side for my liking, which is ultimately what pushed this down to a 3.5. I haven't yet found a semla from a chain of bakeries or stores that's better than this one from Bröd och Salt ("Bread and Salt" in English). 47 kr.
