Ah, a triangular lid. I'd almost forgotten my love for them. A wonderful swirl of cream, with deep gravity defying contours sweeping round the bun. Roughly chopped rosted almonds sit visibly on top of the almond paste and under the cream.
It's a lovely fresh soft bun with clearly visible and tastable cardamom. The bun has that wonderful baked-today freshness and softness.
The almond paste is very similar in taste and consistency to the paste I make 😋 so hard to complain there! 😂
The proportions were spot on. Good swirl of cream, nice quantity of almond paste and extra nuts. Another "medium" semla, but the cheapest of its size I've tested this season.
It's been a while since I had a triangular lid. Round lids have kind of taken over amongst the artisan bakeries, but this was a good reminder of how good it can be with a triangle. It gives you something to hold, but makes the rest of the bun accessible.
