"Traditional and large"

8.5cm tall and 9cm wide, so this is a large semla. If the dimensions weren't enough, it dubbled down on it's heavyweight status by weighing in at 190g.
Boxed in a plain white carton which was only 8cm deep. This meant the lid of the semla had touched the lid of the carton, smudging the icing and pressing the cream out slightly. It was probably 9cm tall before boxing!
Cardamom very clearly visible in the bun from the outside. The lid is kind of triangular. Triangular with a CSS border-radius of 6px.
It's a wide swirl of cream perfectly whipped and sweetened ever so slightly by the icing sugar dusted on top.
The bun was very soft and the first bites were very cream dominant, although it was possible to reach the tripple of cream, bun and paste.
After a few bites, the base of the bun started to fall apart a bit. The hole for the almond paste had been cut quite deep, leaving not much base left in places.
This also resulted in a deep well of paste, so the middle part was dominated by the sweet almond filling.
The balance between cream and paste swung from one extreme to the other as the semla disappeared.
As for the paste itself, it was classic semla almond paste. Sweet and gritty with some finely chopped almonds.
